Vehicles Damaged By Gunfire on I-91 in Middletown: Police

Two vehicles were damaged by gunfire while driving on Interstate 91 on Monday and one of the drivers was injured, police said.

An investigation is underway after two separate vehicles reported the incident to state police at approximately 10 a.m. On Tuesday, state police said it appears to be a road rage incident and they are investigating.

State police said a man arrived at the Middletown headquarters to report an accident on Interstate 91 South, near exit 20. Troopers said he felt like he was hit with something and two windows on the driver’s side of a white Dodge pickup were damaged.

Another individual stopped at the Meriden police headquarters on East Main Street to report that their car was damaged while they'd been driving, authorities said.

Police said one of the drivers sustained a minor laceration from broken glass caused by the gunfire.

Officials are asking any witnesses to call Trooper Poirier #875 at Troop H at 860-534-1000. All calls will remain confidential.
