The owner of an East Haven beach club that's been around since in the 1940s is not sure if he'll be able to rebuild after Irene destroyed much of the property.
State senator and lawyer Len Fasano bought Silver Sands Beach and Tennis Club in 1995 after a developer tried to turn it into condos.
Now, the parts of the property where Fasano spent his childhood that were not destroyed are badly damaged.
Fasano doesn't know if he can afford to rebuild.
“To see the damage and to see a building that was here since 1945 is no longer going to be here, made me very upset,” he said.
Fasano is waiting for an insurance estimate before making a decision.
In the meantime, he's working to at least open the beach for the holiday weekend.
