Irene Relief Show Planned in East Haven

All proceeds will benefit the East Haven victims of Tropical Storm Irene.

A month after Tropical Storm Irene tore through Connecticut, homeowners along Cosey Beach in East Haven are still picking up the pieces.

Storm surge during Irene knocked houses to the ground, destroying everything inside, leaving families with nothing.

The town is coming together to help East Haven families left with nothing in Irene's wake by hosting a Cosey Beach Benefit Relief Show Oct. 15 at East Haven High School.

Included in the show will be singers, comedians, bands, dancers and hip-hop acts. All of the money raised at the event will be distributed directly to the families affected by Irene, according to organizers.

Shawn Hopkinson, who helped gather food and other necessities for storm victims in the days following Irene, is among the group organizing the event.  Watch Shawn's story here.

The Cosey Beach Benefit Relief Show will begin Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at East Haven High School, 35 Wheelbarrow Lane. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at The Sandpiper Restaurant 161 Cosey Beach Avenue, East Haven, and Libero Jewelers 32 Middletown Avenue, North Haven. Tickets can also be purchased at the event.
