The Huskies fans were already setting up at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning for UConn’s final home game of the year against Cincinnati at Rentschler Field.
Although there was plenty of excitement it did not come without emotion.
Jasper Howard who would have been a senior at UConn was one of the 14 seniors recognized for the traditional honoring of seniors.
Howard was killed in 2009 after a fight on the UConn campus. His family also be attended the pre-game ceremony.
Huskies coach Randy Edsall called Howard an honorary captain, and said he will be recognized as such.
The Huskies defeated Cincinnati 38 to 17 and with this fourth straight win it put them in contention to win the Big East.
