Two judicial marshals were hit by a vehicle in front of a courthouse in Manchester on Monday and police are now looking for the driver who hit them.

After an incident in the courthouse, a man identified as 42-year-old Jose Antonio Lopez fled from the building and jumped into a car, according to state police.

The marshals followed Lopez into the parking lot in an attempt to detain him when Lopez sped away, hitting the two marshals, police said.

They did not have specifics on the incident that occurred inside the courthouse.

One marshal was given CPR at the scene and both were transported to Hartford Hospital, judicial branch officials said.

State police said the extent of the injuries to the marshals is not yet known.

The vehicle Lopez was driving is white, with a white spoiler on the back, according to state police. It may have Massachusetts license plates and may also have front end damage, police said.

Lopez was at the courthouse for a scheduled court hearing on an arrest in Manchester from December 2019, according to police. They did not release details on Lopez's December arrest.
