Jumper Was Person of Interest

Oscar Wojtanowski jumped from Mohegan Sun garage,

The man considered one of several people of interest in an East Hampton woman’s death jumped from the fifth floor of a parking area at Mohegan Sun Casino on Sunday.

The medical examiner confirmed on Tuesday that the man who jumped on Sunday night is Oscar Wojtanowski, 22, of Newington.

Wojtanowski was named a person of interest in the homicide of Jaclyn Fitzgerald, a 24-year-old woman who worked as a stripper in Hartford. He was one of several people of interest, police said, and they are pursuing an active investigation.

Fitzgerald was strangled, the medical examiner ruled.

Police found her body inside her Namonee Trail home on Friday. Her twin sister had called police on Thursday after she could not reach Jacyln.

Police Chief Matthew Reimondo told the Bulletin that Wojtanowski was Fitzgerald’s “on-and-off boyfriend,” and the couple had a “rocky relationship.”

One of Fitzgerald’s neighbors said police had been to the house once before Friday. Three years ago, she called police about trouble with her ex, whom she had filed a restraining order against, the neighbor said. Whether the ex was Wojtanowski is not known.

Fitzgerald was an honors student at Daniel Hand High School in Madison and was hoping to earn enough money to pay off her house and go to school for early education, her sister, Danielle Pagano, told the Hartford Courant.

No charges have been filed in her homicide.
