Kobe Bryant Gives Word of Advice to UConn Women's Basketball Team

This will mark the 10th consecutive time the University of Connecticut women's basketball team has played in the NCAA Final Four Tournament

The UConn women's basketball team is gearing up for its 12th straight championship title, after making it to the Final Four this week.

It's safe to say that almost everyone has had something to say to the women who have won more than 100 games in a row.

Even former Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant had some words of advice.

"I know you're feeling right at home here," the Black Mamba said in a Facebook video on the UConn team's Facebook page

"But I know 12 isn't the magic number-- the magic number is 1."

Bryant tells the women he understands they may feel a little overwhelmed on that "magic stage" as they head to the NCAA Championships. But he reminds them to "trust the process."

"Don’t worry about the expectations, don’t worry about the hype, focus on the play that is right in front of you and execute the way that UConn does."

The LA basketball legend wasn't the only one to recognize the women's basketball team this week.

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy officially reconized this weekend as "Husky Weekend" across the state.

This will mark the 10th consecutive time the University of Connecticut women's basketball team has played in the NCAA Final Four Tournament. The team is scheduled to play Friday night. They face the Mississippi State University Bulldogs.

Malloy is urging all Connecticut residents to show their "Husky pride" this weekend by wearing UConn gear, displaying UConn flags and signs and sporting the school's colors of blue and white.

Malloy says the women on the team "have been inspirational, not only to young athletes here in Connecticut, but to millions of people throughout the country."
