Lake Compounce Opens Today

America's oldest  theme park right here in Connecticut opens for the summer season on Saturday just in time for 70-plus-degree weather.

Amusement park enthusiasts can get two tickets for the price of one to Lake Compounce's grand reopening on May 10, as well as May 11, 17 and 18 at lakecompounce.com.

Lake Compounce announced in a news release Thursday that the park has expanded its season pass options to add a summer pass for $50 that gives patrons unlimited access May through September.

Coming soon this summer, the park plans to open the Bear Creek Campground with cabins for families to stay in, as well as a weekend laser light spectacle and Pink's Hollywood Hot Dogs.

Popular attractions include Boulder Dash, Down Time, Pirate Ship, The Wildcat, Thunder Rapids and Zoomerang, as well as Crocodile Cove Water Park.

The Platinum season pass, priced at $74.99, also gives guests unlimited admission through September in addition to access to the Haunted Graveyard and Holiday Lights.

The gates opened at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Lake Compounce is located at 822 Lake Ave. in Bristol, close to the Southington town line.
