There was a large police presence on Marion Avenue in Southington Tuesday night after reports that a 71-year-old woman was alone, suicidal and might have access to guns.
Police said they responded to the home at 5:27 p.m. , set up a perimeter and diverted traffic away from the area.
The woman agreed to come out of the house around 7:30 p.m. and an ambulance took her to a local medical facility for a mental health evaluation.
Police said they found three guns in the home. None were loaded and there was no ammunition found in the residence, police said.
Authorities seized all of the guns pending a firearms hearing and said no arrests are expected from the incident.
