Lieberman Ready to Subpoena Obama Officials: Report

Sen. Joe Lieberman are ready to subpoena the Obama administration today for records regarding the Fort Hood shootings.

Lieberman and Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine, accuse the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Justice of failing to provide critical information about the Nov. 5, 2009 shootings, which killed 13.

They are looking for Maj. Nidal M. Hasan’s personnel file and performance evaluations, summaries of witness statements that were given to the DOD internal review of the shooting, and the restricted annex concerning Hasan that was produced by the DOD internal review.

The senators drafted a subpoena letter to be delivered,  today giving the Justice and Defense departments “until April 26, to respond, or face a committee vote to take the administration to court,” sources told the Washington Post.

The Post reports that White House spokesman Robert Gibbs referred questions about the matter to the Defense Department and Pentagon counsel  scheduled an afternoon briefing to talk about the case.
