Local Charity Hopes You’ll Help Them Get $50k

A local charity needs your help to get $50,000 for their cause.

Michael Friedman, 16, founded Mickey's Way in March 2005. The 16-year-old Easton teen had been diagnosed a year earlier with a rare, aggressive cancer. Despite four years of treatments and surgeries, Michael lost his battle in 2008 but the foundation lives on and they hope you'll vote for them in the Pepsi Refresh Project.

Mikey's Way Foundation is currently rated 120th in the $50,000 category. It helps kids cope with the boredom, isolation and stress associated with treatment for lif- threatening diseases.

The group plans to use the money to distribute interactive electronics to 200 ill children.  Spending $25,000 on handheld devices and entertainment centers for hospital playrooms, another $20,000 on laptops with Skype capability and the remaining $5,000 for portable electronics.
