Local Congress members are taking to social media to thank Capitol Police for keeping them safe after shots were fired outside the U.S. Capitol this afternoon.
According to U.S. Capitol Police, 10 to 15 shots were fired in the area about 2:30 p.m. and local lawmakers were told to shelter in place.
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro was on the House floor when the lockdown was issued.
