Friday the 13th - a day usually reserved for gory horror movies - instead has been designated as a day of love in East Haven today, the day before Valentine’s Day.
Eight couples will get married in the “Second Annual Wedding Marathon” at East Haven Town Hall.
Mayor April Capone Almon, who has officials hooked more than 100 couples in matrimony, will transform her office into a wedding chapel as she presides over the lovebirds’ vows from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The couple scheduled in the 12:30 p.m. slot will broadcast their ceremony via Web cast so the bride’s father in Israel can witness the special moment.
Local merchants will be contributing everything from flowers to refreshments.
