Main Street in Hartford Reopens After Vials Were Found at MDC

Hartford police and firefighters responded to the Metropolitan District building at 555 Main St. to investigate after several vials were found in the building.

It’s not clear what’s in the vials, but officials from the fire department said the substance is contained and poses no threat to personnel or the public. MDC officials stressed that the drinking water was not affected as there are no water supply or treatment facilities at this location.

The substance will be sent out for analysis, according to police.

The southbound side of Main Street was shut down between Wells and Gold streets, but has reopened, according to police.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Hartford Police bomb squad/hazmat team responded.
