State police have arrested a man who’s accused of attacking a woman in Willington, then using a tree limb to hit the man who tried to come to her rescue.
The attack was reported on Balazs Road at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday and the state troopers who responded immediately started looking for the suspect, Daniel Lee Bitcon, 29, after meeting with the two victims, state police said.
Bitcon is accused of choking the female victim and hitting her in the head several times.
When the other victim heard the woman’s screams, he ran out of his house to help and Bitcon hit him with a tree limb, police said.
The woman was taken to Rockville Hospital.
Police took Bitcon into custody after finding him and charged him with second-degree assault with a weapon, second-degree strangulation, threatening, third-degree assault, unlawful restraint, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct.
He was held on $100,000 and will appear in Rockville Superior Court on Monday.
It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
