Hamden police have arrested a Bridgeport man accused of burglarizing a Hamden jewelry store early this morning.
At 5 a.m., police responded to Ruby’s Jeweler’s, at 3056 Whitney Avenue after the burglar alarm went off and saw a man standing behind a display counter, police said.
The man ran out through the back door and officers found Alex Alicea, 52, of Bridgeport, hiding in bushes, police said.
He was arrested after a short foot chase and police said he was found with several pieces of jewelry.
Alicea was charged with burglary in the first degree, possession of burglar tools, larceny in the fourth degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.
Alicea was detained at police headquarters on a $50,000 bond and was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court.
