A 32-year-old man is accused of slaying his wife in a West Hartford home while their 3-year-old son was in the house.
Police said Jose Lacouture killed his wife in a domestic violence dispute just before midnight on Woodlawn Street.
Police told the Associated Press that the victim is Lacouture's 23-year-old wife, Gina. He admitted to stabbing her, the judge said in court.
Police said there was an outstanding protective order against Lacouture, according to a news release from police.
Lacouture was arraigned Monday on charges of murder, violation of a protective order and risk of injury to a minor. The third charge, police said, was filed because the couple's son was in the home at the time.
Bond was issued at $2.5 million and he is due in court Monday.
Lacouture has lived in Hartford for five years.
