Authorities have tracked down the 22-year-old man accused of assaulting and strangling an infant in Willimantic last February.
According to Willimantic police, Scottye Luis Valladares was babysitting the child when the attack occurred. It’s not clear what sparked the attack. Police said the baby has made a full recovery and is doing well.
Valladares had been on the run since February and spent some time in Atlanta before returning to Connecticut. The U.S. Marshals became involved and arrested Valladares on Nov. 22 following a foot chase in New London, police said.
He’s charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree strangulation.
Valladares has a two previous convictions stemming from 2012 and 2010, including third-degree assault and violation of a protection order, for which he served jail time.
