Man Arrested for 76th Time

Suspect is charged with stealing from an American Legion hall.

A man charged with burglarizing an American Legion Hall in Wolcott was arrested for the 76th time Thursday.

Kenneth Seyler, 52, of Bristol, is the suspect in the theft of a safe from the American Legion Hall at 1253 Wolcott Road. Members of the American Legion reported the safe missing December 20, 2011.

Surveillance video showed a man remove the safe, filled with cash, from a closet. The suspect put the safe on a dolly, pushed it to his vehicle, and loaded it into the trunk.

Two weeks later, a police officer spotted a car on Grand Street that appeared similar to the car in the surveillance video. The officer identified the driver as Seyler, a man with 75 prior arrests for burglaries and larcenies in several towns, according to authorities. He is currently on parole.

Police learned Seyler had played Bingo at the American Legion hall in November.

Authorities applied for an arrest warrant, and arrested Seyler Thursday. He is charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
