A Bristol man finds himself behind bars over a comment he made on Facebook.
State police say 36-year-old Michael Adams of Bristol made a post earlier this week that read, "I hope that Governor Malloy will be shot by an angry New Yorker during his visit to New York."
It drew the attention of police who said they are taking everything seriously in this day and age.
Malloy was in Manhattan Thursday for a ceremony at Ground Zero in memory of those who died in the September 11th attacks.
Neighbors say Adams was in the army and recently went through a divorce. He's now living at home with his parents on Perkins Street.
Some residents say it’s debatable whether Adams comment falls under Free Speech protections.
"I don't think it does. Not in that forum, not with the kind of comment. People should have more common sense than to say something like that," said Donna Bonin, of Bristol.
Police charged Adams with harassment, inciting injury and breach of peace.
He was arraigned Friday morning and held on a $30,000 bond.
