Hector Ortiz III, 27, arrived in Connecticut on Monday after being extradited from New Jersey to face sexual assault charges in connection with the abuse of a child.
Ortiz is accused of abusing a 10-year-old boy on several occasions over a four-month period in 2009.
Ortiz was arrested on June 6 in Hudson County, New Jersey, where he currently lives. At the time he allegedly abused the boy, he lived in New Britain.
There are 14 charges against Ortiz, including strangulation, sexual assault and risk of injury to a child by sexual contact.
He is being held on $250,000 bond and did not enter a plea in New Britain Superior Court on Tuesday. The case was continued to July 13.
