Man in Critical Condition After Car Cuts Off Bus

A Greenwich man suffered a head injury when a driver cut off the bus he was riding on in Fairfield on Friday afternoon.

The man, whose name has not been released, is in critical condition and police are looking for the driver who cut off the bus.

The Milford Transit Bus was slowing down to stop at a bus stop at Post and Reef roads when a Volkswagen pulled in front of it and turned, police said.

The passenger was standing at the time and was thrown backward, hitting his head.

He was taken to St. Vincent’s hospital, where he is in critical condition. His name has not been released because police are notifying his family.

Witnesses told police the car is a small dark red/brown Volkswagen with a tan convertible top. Two witnesses said they believe the driver turned into the driveway leading to the underground parking lot for Borders/Banana Republic/Ann Taylor Loft.

Police are looking to speak with the driver. Any witnesses are asked to call the accident investigation division at 203 254-4808.
