Man Killed in New Haven Shooting

"Shotspotter" Leads Police to Crime Scene

"Shotspotter" led New Haven Police to a crime scene early Sunday where they found one man dead from a gunshot wound.

Police were called to the area of 635 Elm Street at 2:42 a.m. after the system detected gunshots in the area.

As officers responded to the call, several 911 calls came in reporting a crash in the area.

When police arrived, they found a man had been involved in a one-car accident and was also suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police are not releasing the victim's identity yet.
