Man Saves Woman from Burning Car After Branford Crash

A Guilford man saved a woman after she hit a tree in Branford on Monday night and her car burst into flames. 

Branford police officers and firefighters responded to reports of a fiery crash just after 6:30 p.m. and learned a Guilford man had pulled a woman from her vehicle after she struck a tree, police said. 

The 69-year-old driver told investigators she was going south on Blackstone Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed, police said. 

Paramedics treated her for a leg injury and she was transported to a medical facility. 

Branford Animal Control Officers also responded to the scene to take three dogs who were also in the vehicle and said one dog was treated for minor injuries. 

The driver was cited for failure to drive right.
