A man was shot outside a Hartford deli on Tuesday night and police are searching for the shooter, as well as the car the shots were fired from.
Police responded to 154 Mather Street at 11:08 p.m. after shot spotter detected four gunshots and found the victim on the sidewalk near Super Deli.
He’d been shot once in the lower back and was conscious, but did not respond to officers, police said.
An ambulance brought him to Saint Francis Hospital.
Police said they did not find any witnesses, but they looked at surveillance footage and saw a black sedan with a fin on the back bumper traveling west on Mather Street, then stop after passing the deli and someone inside it fired gunshots at a group of people standing in front of the deli, including the victim.
Another bullet hit an employee’s mother’s car.
Police have not found the vehicle and are investigating.
