Man Stabs Friend Over Cell Phone Picture

After an evening of drugs and drinking, a Haddam man says he killed his friend in a moment of rage.

Benjamin James pleaded guilty to murder on Monday to stabbing Stefan Lasak, 22, multiple times in April 2008 and dumping the body in a wooded area.

James was going through a divorce, his lawyer said, and seeing a picture of his stepson on Lasak's cell phone made him think his buddy was after his wife.

That, combined with the cocaine and marijuana use that night, prompted him to act out of character, his attorney said.
