Name of Driver Killed on I-95 Released

The man was hit trying to cross the highway, according to police.

Police have released the name of the 60-year-old West Haven man who died after his car broke down on Interstate 95 in Orange on Wednesday evening. 

Jim Borson's car broke down in the center lane, according to police, and he tried crossing the highway to get help near exit 41 when he was hit in the northbound lanes, state police said.

Don Dufresne, 54, of Lyme, was driving the car that was getting off the highway and hit Borson, police said.

Borson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was backed up for miles while police investigated and the ramp was closed for about two hours. 

Police ask that any witnesses call state police at 203-696-2500.
