Want to Stop a Burglary? There’s an App for That

Thanks to an iPhone application, Vincent Hunter was able to summon police from 1,400 miles away when two men broke into his Dallas house.

Two months before traveling from his home in Dallas to Connecticut to see his parents, Hunter spent $4.99 on an iCam app, the Dallas Morning News reports.

It turned out to be $5 well spent when he received a text message on Friday afternoon alerting him that motion detectors sensed movement in his supposedly empty residence.

He launched the app and was able to watch a live feed of two gloved men looking into his patio door, and then throw a brick at the glass to get inside, the Morning News reports.

“"I've got a few webcams set up,” he told the newspaper. “We could see it unfolding."

So, he dialed 911 as his home security system did the same thing.

Minutes later, Hunter watched as two police officers entered the house.

Both men remain at large.
