Man Taken to Hospital After Getting Rescued From River in Enfield

A man was taken to St. Francis Hospital after getting rescued from the Connecticut River in Enfield on Sunday.

Firefighters rescued a man who was swimming to King's Island, a Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection official said.

The man was alone at the time and was taken to St. Francis Hospital for an evaluation. According to DEEP, they were not aware of any injuries, but it's typical to send someone to the hospital after they are in cold water.

A canoe was seen floating down the river, but DEEP officials did not release information about the canoe or if it was involved in today's incident.
