Man With Gunshot Found After Crash in Hartford

A man is in critical condition after getting shot and crashing into the front steps of a residential building in Hartford Thursday night. 

Police said they responded to Annawan Street at 10:21 p.m. after ShotSpotter detected five gunshots and found a vehicle with bullet holes that had crashed into the front steps of a residential building on Franklin Avenue, around a tenth of a mile away from where the gunshots were detected. 

Emergency responders found a man in the car. He was unresponsive and had been shot in the chest, according to police. 

He was rushed to Hartford Hospital, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition, right after going through emergency surgery. 

Police said they found three bullet casings on Annawan Street. There was no structural damage to the house on Franklin Avenue. 

The investigation is underway.
