Man Gets $2M Scratch-Off Surprise

A stop at the store on the way home from work turned into a $2 million trip to the bank for a Burlington man.

"I'm actually a loss for words," said Ed Cormier.

He paid $20 for a Connecticut Lottery Max-a-Millions scratch-off ticket Wednesday night. Thursday morning, the father of two picked up his check at Connecticut Lottery headquarters in New Britain.

Cormier said he would invest some of the money into his children’s future.

"The first thing that popped into my head was that the kids are set for school," he said.

As far as his job as a heating and air-conditioning mechanic, he said it's something he won't give up.
"There's no way I couldn't work, I'd go crazy at home," he said.

Cormier was not the only winner.

Two other lottery players picked up scratch-off prizes worth $25,000 and $2,100.
