Manchester Police Investigate Suspicious Message Found at Local Church

A suspicious message left on a computer at a local church in Manchester prompted an investigation and forced the building to evacuate on Monday morning.

Officers were called to St. Bridget Church on Main Street around 9:15 a.m. after getting a call from an employee at the church.

Police said the employee discovered a suspicious message on a computer that was left on over the weekend. The message said "if you're reading this get out of the building NOW," according to police.

When officers arrived to the church, the building was evacuated as a precaution. It was searched by police with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Explosive Detection K9s and authorities said no suspicious items were found.

The building was deemed safe and operations at the church were returned to normal.

"We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of the school community," police said.

Detectives remain at the scene investigating the circumstances around the message being left on the computer.
