Several students are expected to be charged in the stabbing of an 8th grade student in a Hartford school yard Tuesday.
The student took a knife to the abdomen, just below the rib cage, at 8:15 a.m., during a fight in the school yard, a Quirk Middle School official said. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
At least six students, boys and girls, were involved in the courtyard fight, Hartford police said.
Police interviewed students Tuesday, used a wand to investigate and searched lockers.
A pair of scissors was recovered at the scene but it is not known yet whether this is the weapon.
Parents were notified of the lockdown by phone and e-mail.
