Middletown police arrested a man accused of attacking a neighbor over a parking space.
Joseph Imme, 58, of Middletown, faces charges of third-degree assault and breach of peace following an incident on Oct. 24.
Police allege that Imme was upset when another tenant parked in his regular parking spot at the Rivers Edge Apartments on DeKoven Drive because of paving work. According to police, Imme left a note asking the vehicle’s owner to meet him in the lobby.
Imme arrived in the lobby and began attacking his neighbor. According to the arraignment report, the victim suffered cuts, contusions and abrasions to his face and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Police said Imme punched the victim more than 15 times.
Imme was issued a summons, scheduled for court on Nov. 7 and told not to have any contact with the victim. He agreed to leave the River Edge Apartments for the evening and stay with his daughter, police said.
