Greenwich Beauty Named Miss Conn. International

And the Miss Connecticut International crown goes to … drum roll, please -- Greenwich’s Dierdre Arcuri.

The 24-year-old Greenwich High School graduate won the pageant this month and will compete for Miss International on July 24-25 in Chicago.

Arcuri, a professional financial analyst, plans on continuing her work with Helping and Loving Orphans (HALO) during her reign.

Since there are so many different pageants, here is a breakdown of the top national beauty pageants:

Miss America
Miss America is the “big cheese” of beauty pageants. Contestants must be between the ages of 17 and 24. You must win a local competition to be eligible in the Miss Connecticut pageant. If you win Miss Connecticut, than you compete for Miss America. The current Miss Connecticut is Ashley Glenn, 23, Hamden

Miss USA
Contestants must be between 19 and 27 years old. Winners of city competitions compete in their state competition. The state holders compete for Miss USA. Donald Trump and NBC Universal co-own the competition’s parent organization, the Miss Universe Organization. The current Miss Connecticut USA is Monica Mary Pietrzak, 26, Manchester

Miss International
Contestants must be between the ages of 19 and 29 years old. Similar to Miss America and Miss USA, there are local competitions in each state, and the winners compete for their state crown. The winners represent their state in the Miss International pageant.
The current Miss Connecticut-International is Dierdre Arcuri, 24, Greenwich
