Missing Brown Soccer Coach Found Dead in Griswold

He was reported missing on Feb. 6.

A Brown University soccer coach reported missing three weeks ago was found dead in Griswold.

The body of Denis Chartier, 56, was discovered inside his car on Saturday morning in a commuter parking lot off Route 395 in Griswold, Connecticut.

Chartier, the assistant coach of Brown University’s women’s soccer team, left his Burrillville, Rhode Island home on Feb. 6 and the last trace of him came when his player rewards card from Foxwoods Resort Casino. was used at the casino on Feb. 7.

Burrillville police had been working with Foxwoods security and the Connecticut State Police to try to locate him.

Police said on Sunday that Chartier’s death is being investigated but no foul play is suspected.

A Brown spokeswoman said Chartier has been with the university for 15 years.
