Mom Tans as Kids Sit in Freezing Car: Cops

As an Enfield mom got a tan at a local salon on Monday, her children were outside, sitting in her car, alone, police said.

The car was off and the outside temperature was around 28 degrees at the time, Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza told the Journal Inquirer.

Candy Ann Rock, 28, went for the appointment on Monday afternoon and left the children, ages 3 and just under 1 year, in the car for 18 minutes, police said.

She has been charged with reckless endangerment and risk of injury to children, accused of leaving them alone, in the cold, while she caught some rays.

Rock posted $5,000 bail and is due in Enfield Superior Court on Feb. 9. She declined comment Thursday.

The children were not harmed. Police notified child welfare officials, who are investigating.
