Morning Rain Showers Cause Problems for Commute

Rain is leading to several crashes across the state for the Monday morning commute.

Two crashes are reported on Route 8 South in Trumbull. One it at exit 9, while another is at exit 6.

A crash on Interstate 84 in Plainville is causing delays back to Route 72 East.

There was also a two-car crash on Interstate 85 North in Darien, between exits 13 and 14.

Earlier this morning, a car crashed into a pole on Interstate 91 South in Rocky Hill, by exit 23, and a crash between exits 44 and 43 on Interstate 95 South in West Haven has cleared.

It will not rain all day, according to NBC Connecticut First Alert Meteorologist Bob Maxon, who said there will be some breaks during the mid-day, but more showers are possible this afternoon and evening.

Temperatures are also running about 20 degrees below normal.

The rain follows a stormy Sunday that led to flooding on Interstate 84 West in Waterbury, as well as on local roads in Berlin and on Route 189 in Granby.
