Motorcyclist Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries in Crash

An 81-year-old man as cited for an improper turn.

A 46-year-old New Haven man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being thrown from a motorcycle during a crash on Saturday evening.

Andrew Criscuolo, 81, of Branford, was trying to make a left turn from Route 1 onto Jefferson Road in Branford around 6 p.m. on Saturday when he collided with Brian Pelsis, who was driving a motorcycle, police said.

Pelsis was thrown from the bike. police said. Paramedics treated him at the scene for severe injuries and brought him to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Traffic was delayed and detoured for about an hour on Saturday as police investigated.

Criscuolo was cited for making an improper turn, police said.
