MTV invaded the halls of Derby High School this week.

The network wrapped up filming a new series, "The Substitute", at the school Thursday. The show's first four episodes were shot, using more than 80 Derby High School students, according to Principal Fran Thompson.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and our community," Thompson said.

"The Substitute" is a trivia game show in which students play against each other for prizes and up to $5,000 in scholarships to put toward college.

Students show up to what they think is a normal day of class, only to find a "substitute", the show's host, in class instead. The classroom is transformed into a game show where the kids can win everything from free lunch, to computers, to the scholarship money.

Embassy Row Productions, the company behind "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and "The Newlywed Game", is producing the show for MTV.

Thompson says one producer told him Derby has "the best kids and it has been a great experience for everyone."

It is not clear when the first episodes of "The Substitute" will air.
