Three people were sent to the hospital after a two-car crash on Route 322 near Meriden Road in Wolcott just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police said the car that was heading uphill crossed the center line and hit a car that was going down the hill.

Two people were trapped inside the car that has been going up the hill and emergency officials had to use the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off and free them.

The driver and a passenger both suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The other driver was also injured and ambulances took all three people to the hospital.

The road was closed as officials responded, but it has since reopened.
