Naugatuck Stabbing Suspect Sought

The victim is 16 and was stabbed in the chest and back.

On July 30, a 16-year-old who was stabbed in the chest and back was found on Church Street in Naugatuck and police have been looking for his attacker.

Police have since identified Joseph Gay, 32, as a suspect and are asking for help from the public to find him.

Gay has family in Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport and is believed to be in one of those areas, but he has also been seen in the Waterbury area, police said.

Gay was born on Jan. 1, 1980, but has also used May 20,1980 as a date of birth, according to police, and there is a re-arrest warrant out of Norwalk Police with that date of birth.

An arrest warrant out of Naugatuck charges Gay with Assault in the first degree with a nationwide extradition and bond was set at $500,000.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Gay.

The victim is in stable condition, according to police.

According to court records, Gay's conviction record goes back to 2000 when he was arrested on drug charges.
