Most people don't think of the Northeast as a hotbed of quality barbecue.
In fact, if you're from somewhere like Texas or Memphis, you might cringe at the idea. But there is one New York-based restaurant that's been converting non-believers for nearly a quarter of a century.
Dinosaur B-B-Que started in Syracuse in 1988, and boasts some of the best wings, ribs and chicken around.
Now, it's got plans to expand into Stamford, Connecticut, reports the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester.
The restaurant first expanded in 1998 when co-founder John Stage opened up a second location in Rochester, New York. Since then, the roadhouse-themed bar and restaurant has expanded to Harlem and Troy.
Their next round of growth begins this spring in Newark, New Jersey.
That will be followed by a store in Stamford. Expect that restaurant to open sometime in the fall.
And the growth doesn't stop there. A Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is set to open in Brooklyn in 2013.
Just don't call it a restaurant chain. Stage prefers to say he's creating a barbecue "collective."
