New Haven Police Make Arrest in 2012 Murder

New Haven police have arrested a man charged in a 2012 murder case.

Joseph Mirvil, 28, of New Haven, was shot and killed on September 18, 2012. Police say the incident happened in the front vestibule of an apartment in the Malcolm Court section of the Church Street South housing complex.

Two weeks later, then 20-year-old John Claudio was arrested for his involvement in the crime, according to police.

On November 10, 2014 an arrest warrant was signed for Xavier Yancey, 20, of New Haven, who is also believed to be involved. On Friday at 6:30 p.m. officers spotted Yancey on Liberty Street and arrested him without incident.

Yancey is charged with felony murder. Bond was set at $500,000.
