Over 250,000 spectators flooded the streets New Haven Sunday afternoon for their 57th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
New Haven has been hosting this parade since the mid-1950’s and is the 6th oldest parade in the nation, recognized by the Library of Congress in 1999.
The parade began at 1:30 p.m. on the corner of Derby Avenue and Chapel Street.
First responders, politicians and groups from across Connecticut took part in the parade this afternoon.
The parade featured over 3,000 marchers and musical units celebrating the diversity of many cultures.
If you were not able to make it to the celebrations here in Connecticut, there are a few more parades out of state scheduled for next weekend.
South Boston’s annual parade on the 17th is expected to bring in over 650,000 people.

New York City is also holding their St. Patrick’s Day festivities next weekend, scheduled for the 16th and starts at 11a.m. on 44th street.
