Man Arrested on New London Ferry After Death Threats: Police

A 43-year-old New York man was arrested on the Cross Sound Ferry in New London after reportedly threatening to kill two people in New York and Massachusetts, one of whom was a family member, police said.

According to New London police, Shawn L. Douglas threatened to kill someone in South Hampton, NY, then told relatives he was going to kill a family member in Massachusetts.

Douglas then fled the state, boarded the ferry in Orient Point, NY, and was arrested on the ferry as it docked in New London, police said.

He was found in possession of a loaded firearm and was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, breach of peace and possession of marijuana.

New London police said Douglas will likely face additional charges in New York.

The investigation is ongoing.
