New London Police Investigate Suspicious Incidents Near Schools

New London Police are asking for the public’s help after three reported incidents this month where a man suspiciously engaged with school-aged girls.

On May 20th, police say a girl was walking to school alone around 7 in the morning when she was pestered by a man asking her to come over to his car. Police say he was parked in the area of Williams Street, near the Jennings School.

Three days later, police say there was a similar situation not too far away on Colman Street around 10:30am. They say a driver told a student she was beautiful and asked her age. Police say it was reported that he even followed her in his car for a bit.

Around 7 a.m. on Friday, police say a man tried to engage a girl and then follow her. Once again, it was reported in the Williams Street area.

Lots of parents said they are concerned.

Police say the suspect could potentially be the same person, driving different cars.

They are asking for anyone with information to give them a call at 860-447-5269 ext. 0 or submit them an anonymous text via the New London Tips 411 system by texting NLPDTip plus the information to Tip411 (847411).

Police say they are proactively patrolling school areas in the morning and at dismissal.
