Like in many communities across the state, the cleanup is beginning in New Haven and the cost to restore the city could exceed $1 million, city officials said.
Eight of the city’s streets remain closed on Monday afternoon, mayor John DeStefano said.
Crews are working with United Illuminating to clear the trees and get power restored, but the mayor does not expect all streets to be cleared and reopened until Tuesday.
The cleanup costs, as of Monday, are $500,000, but that cost could double.
The city will be conducting cleanup by snow routes, which gives priority to facilities including hospitals and fire stations.
