A driver traveled on the wrong side of Route 9 and Interstate 84 for several miles before crashing into several other vehicles early Wednesday morning.
Joan Sanchez, 27, of West Hartford, drove north in the southbound lanes of Route 9 beginning in Kensington, according to state police.
Sanchez, with two passengers, drove up Route 9 and then drove east in the westbound lanes of I-84, where her car collided with three other cars by Exit 40 in West Hartford around 1:15 a.m., police said.
In all, 9 people were taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.
The highway was closed for about an hour.
