Schools in North Stonington will be dismissing students early on Friday.
With many rural areas in town, administrators want to make sure the students get home safely before the wind picks up this afternoon, according to the superintendent's office.
There is a high wind warning issued for parts of southeastern Connecticut.
Some areas of the shoreline could see wind gusts reaching 60 miles per hour or higher.
